At First Light Brewing Co., the story starts with two passionate founders—Haydon and Damien—whose combined skills and love for great beer are the driving forces behind the brewery. Their experience and down-to-earth approach help create fresh beers that not only taste amazing but also help create memories that last.
Haydon
The Brewer with a Passion for Quality
Haydo’s journey in brewing began way back in 1999, working night shifts at one of New South Wales' largest breweries. Starting out doing the less glamorous tasks of picking up bottles and cans, Haydo quickly found himself hooked on the process of making great beer. His dedication and work ethic paid off as he moved through the ranks, picking up everything there is to know about brewing, packaging, and supply chain management.
Over the years, Haydo has worked with iconic Australian craft beer brands like Little Creatures, James Squire, and Kosciuszko, honing his skills in crafting quality beer. As Head Brewer, he led a team and managed the production of millions of litres of beer annually, all while working alongside legends like Chuck Hahn.
With years of hands-on experience, Haydon brings a wealth of knowledge and dedication to First Light Brewing Co.
Damien
From the Pub to the Sales Floor
Damien’s journey into the beer industry started in the hospitality world. Growing up around his aunt and uncle’s hotel in the Riverina, he witnessed how a great drink brings people together. By 18, he was behind the bar at the local south coast boat fishing club, gaining hands-on experience in hospitality.
As his career evolved, Damien transitioned into sales and marketing, working with top brands like Penfolds, Bacardi, Heineken, and Kirin. His experience managing events and functions has given him a unique understanding of what it takes to create memorable experiences for all kinds of occasions. Whether it's a casual pub gathering or a large celebration, Damien ensures First Light’s beers are the perfect fit for every event.
With his hospitality background and extensive industry knowledge, Damien is dedicated to making First Light’s beers accessible and enjoyable for all.
